Письмо другу на английском языке про книги

Hi Alex,
How’s everything on your end? I’ve been on a real reading kick lately and thought I’d tell you about it. This year I set myself a small goal—one book a month—and it’s actually stuck. I’ve been mixing fiction and non-fiction so I don’t burn out: a novel for the story and then something about history or psychology to learn a new idea or two.
Last week I finished “The Night Circus,” and I loved how atmospheric it was—every chapter felt like stepping into a different tent. Before that, I read a short but powerful memoir about creativity and routine; it made me start keeping a tiny reading journal. Now I jot down favorite lines, questions I had, and what the book made me feel. It’s funny how writing a few sentences helps the stories stick.
I still prefer paper books for evenings (there’s something about turning real pages), but my e-reader has been great for the bus—lighter bag, brighter screen, and instant dictionaries when I hit a tricky word. I also discovered a small second-hand bookstore near my place; the owner remembers what I like and keeps odd gems aside for me. It’s dangerously tempting.
What have you been reading lately? Do you have a comfort book you return to when life gets loud? If you can recommend a fast-paced mystery or a thoughtful sci-fi novel, send the titles my way. When we next meet, let’s swap a couple of favorites—I’ll bring the one that made me miss my stop twice!
Take care and write back soon,
Sam
