Hello! My name is Kolobok. I am a small round bun made from flour, milk, and a pinch of salt. My grandma and grandpa baked me together. They shaped me carefully, brushed me with butter, and put me in the oven. When I cooled down, they put me on the windowsill. I felt the fresh air, the warm sun, and a big sense of curiosity.

I didn’t want to stay in one place. I wanted to see the world. So I rolled off the windowsill, down the bench, through the door, and out into the yard. I sang a little song while rolling: “I’m Kolobok, Kolobok! I rolled away from Grandma and Grandpa, and I can roll farther!”

On the road I met a Hare. He looked at me with big eyes and said, “Kolobok, I will eat you!” I answered, “Don’t be so fast. Listen to my song.” I sang my song and rolled away quickly while he was listening. The Hare was surprised, and I was proud of my speed.

Then I met a Wolf. He showed his sharp teeth and said, “Kolobok, I will eat you!” I stayed brave. I sang my song again: I rolled away from Grandma and Grandpa, and from the Hare, and I can roll away from you too! While the Wolf hesitated, I rolled off the path and escaped into the forest.

Next I met a Bear. He was big and strong. “Kolobok, I will eat you!” he growled. I smiled and sang my song once more. The Bear started to clap his paws to the rhythm. When he stopped to think, I quickly rolled between the trees and disappeared.

Finally, I met a Fox. She looked kind and clever. “Kolobok,” she said softly, “what a delicious song! But I cannot hear well. Please come closer and sing again.” I felt proud of my voice and my adventures. I came closer and sang my song. “Closer, please,” the Fox whispered. I rolled onto her nose to sing one last time.

And that is when I learned an important lesson: the world is exciting, but it is also dangerous. Clever words can hide hungry plans. Some versions say the Fox ate me. In my version, I jumped off her nose just in time and rolled back home to Grandma and Grandpa. Now I am wiser. I still love to travel, but I remember to be careful, to trust actions more than sweet words, and to be thankful for the warm home where my family waits for me.
