Нужно сделать два варианта для каждого предложения:

  • а) реальное условие (First Conditional / возможное будущее):
    If + Present Simple, will + V (в главной части).
    Также возможны can / may / must вместо will по смыслу.

  • b) нереальное условие настоящего времени (Second Conditional / маловероятное или воображаемое сейчас):
    If + Past Simple, would + V (в главной части).
    Важно: в 2-м типе часто пишут If I were… (формально), но was тоже встречается в разговорной речи.

b) If I knew, I would tell you.

а) If she wants to talk, she will ring up.
b) If she wanted to talk, she would ring up.

b) If we could come on Sunday, we would come.

b) I would understand Mr. Smith if he spoke slowly.

(реальное: unless = if not; условие “если только не…”)
а) We won’t go by ship unless there is no other way.
b) We wouldn’t go by ship unless there were no other way.

(реальное предупреждение о результате)
а) If you don’t give him good meals, he won’t be able to work hard.
b) If you didn’t give him good meals, he wouldn’t be able to work hard.
