However, exams can be stressful, and one bad day may spoil the result. Some students know the subject well but fail because they are nervous, tired, or afraid of making mistakes. Exams should not test only memory. They should test understanding, the ability to explain ideas, solve problems, and use knowledge in real situations. Many clever people fail exams because they think in an unusual way or need more time to show their knowledge. Sometimes the exam format is too strict and does not let them demonstrate their real abilities. I think exams are necessary, but they should be fair and varied. I would prefer to take exams in a mixed form: a written test, several practical tasks, and a short oral answer.
