Ivan Kupala: A Night of Magic and Fun!

Have you ever jumped over a bonfire or searched for a magical flower? In Ukraine, there is a special celebration called Ivan Kupala. It happens on the night of July 6th to 7th, and it’s one of the most exciting traditions ever!

On this night, people gather near rivers or lakes. They make big bonfires and take turns jumping over them. It’s believed that jumping over the fire cleanses you and brings good luck. Girls and boys also float wreaths with candles on the water. If a wreath floats far, it means good fortune.

But the most magical part is the legend of the fern flower. According to the story, a fern blooms only on this night, and whoever finds it will understand the language of animals and find hidden treasures. Of course, ferns don’t really bloom, but it’s fun to imagine!
