What positive events happened in the Noughties?

The Noughties means the 2000s, from 2000 to 2009. A lot of difficult things happened then, but there were also important positive events.

• Medical progress: the Human Genome Project was completed in 2003, helping scientists understand human genes much better.
• Technology became more useful: broadband internet, mobile phones, search engines, online learning and digital communication spread quickly.
