Yes, I know many English words that are used in my native language, Russian. Some of them are connected with technology, business, sport, and modern culture. For example, we use words like компьютер from “computer,” интернет from “Internet,” файл from “file,” менеджер from “manager,” маркетинг from “marketing,” бизнес from “business,” футбол from “football,” блог from “blog,” лайк from “like,” and дедлайн from “deadline.” Some of these words have Russian endings or pronunciation, but it is still easy to recognize their English origin.

I also know many English words that originally came from other languages. For example, restaurant and café came from French, piano came from Italian, kindergarten came from German, algebra and alcohol came from Arabic, shampoo came from Hindi, tsunami and sushi came from Japanese, robot came from Czech, and chocolate came from Nahuatl. English has borrowed words from many languages because English speakers have had contact with many cultures through trade, travel, science, war, colonization, immigration, and art.

I think languages borrow words because people need names for new things, ideas, inventions, foods, technologies, or cultural practices. Sometimes one language has a word for something that another language does not have yet. For example, when computers and the Internet became popular, many languages borrowed English technology words because English-speaking countries were very influential in that field. Languages also borrow words because they sound fashionable, modern, or more convenient than native alternatives. In business, science, music, fashion, and sport, borrowed words can spread very quickly.

In my opinion, borrowing words is normal and natural. It shows that languages are alive and constantly changing. No language exists completely separately from others. When people communicate, trade, travel, watch films, listen to music, or use the same technologies, their languages influence each other. Borrowed words can make a language richer, although sometimes people worry that too many foreign words may replace native words. Still, borrowing is one of the main ways languages grow and adapt to the modern world.
