My Favourite Board Game

My favourite board game is checkers. I like it because it is easy to learn, but it also makes you think carefully. You need attention, patience, and a good plan to win.

Checkers is played by two people on a board with black and white squares. Each player has twelve pieces. One player uses dark pieces, and the other player uses light pieces. The pieces move only on the dark squares.

At the beginning, ordinary pieces move diagonally forward. If an opponent’s piece is next to your piece and the square behind it is empty, you can jump over it and take it. When a piece reaches the last row on the opposite side of the board, it becomes a king. A king can move diagonally both forward and backward.

The aim of the game is to take all your opponent’s pieces or block them so they cannot move. I enjoy checkers because every game is different, and even a small mistake can change the result.
