Flood in Eastern Kazakhstan

Last spring, a serious flood happened in East Kazakhstan Region after heavy rain and rapid snowmelt. Several villages near the Irtysh River were affected. Water entered houses, damaged roads and flooded fields. Many families had to leave their homes for a few days. Rescuers evacuated people and brought food, water and warm clothes. The flood also harmed animals and polluted some areas of the riverbank. Local people said that the disaster was frightening, but they were grateful to volunteers and emergency workers. After the water went down, residents began cleaning their houses and repairing the damaged streets.
