Hi! My name is Alex Ivanov. I live in Plovdiv, a cozy city with old Roman ruins and lots of parks. I’m 14 years old, which means I’m just finishing eighth grade and starting to figure out what I’m really good at. My favourite subject is English, because I love the feeling of understanding songs, movies, and books without translations, and my teacher makes every lesson feel like a game. I’m Bulgarian by nationality, and my family keeps a lot of traditions—like baking banitsa on holidays and hiking in the Rhodope Mountains on long weekends.

I read a lot, mostly adventure and fantasy—authors like Rick Riordan and J. R. R. Tolkien—but I also enjoy short mysteries because they make me think. My main hobby is drawing; I keep a sketchbook in my backpack and doodle city scenes, people on buses, and imaginary creatures when I have free time. I’m also teaching myself a bit of guitar from online tutorials, just simple chords for now.

During my summer holidays I’m going to do a few things I’ve planned for months: first, I’ll spend a week at a language camp near the sea to practice English with new friends. After that, my parents and I will visit my grandparents in a small village, where I’ll help in the garden, ride my bike, and take photos of sunsets for my sketch references. I want to finish two books on my list—“The Hobbit” and a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories—and I’ll try to fill an entire sketchbook with drawings from real life. If all goes well, by the end of the summer I’ll be better at English, better at drawing, and maybe able to play a whole song on the guitar without stopping.
