The Little Monkey and the Yellow Banana

Once upon a time there lived a little monkey in a big green forest. The monkey was kind and funny, but one morning he was hungry. He climbed a tall palm tree because he wanted to eat a big yellow banana.

Under the palm tree there was a green crocodile. The crocodile was very hungry too. He looked at the little monkey and said:

“Come down, little monkey! I want to be your friend.”

But the little monkey was clever. He saw the crocodile’s big teeth and understood that the crocodile did not want to be his friend. The crocodile wanted to eat him!

At that moment the monkey’s friends came to the palm tree. There were birds, parrots, and other monkeys. They shouted loudly:

“Do not come down! The crocodile is dangerous!”

Then they saw many hunters walking through the forest. The hunters were looking for animals. The friends were afraid. The little monkey had a good idea. He threw the yellow banana far away into the bushes.

The crocodile heard the noise and quickly ran away. The hunters heard the noise too and went after the crocodile, but the animals hid in the trees.

Soon the forest was quiet again. The little monkey climbed down safely. He found another yellow banana and shared it with his friends.

From that day the little monkey always listened to his friends, and the green crocodile never came back to that palm tree again.
