Future tenses. Choose the correct item. 1. I'm thinking/think of buying a new mobile. 2. It looks like it is raining/is going to rain later. 3. I've been working for hours. I think I'll have/have a break. 4. When I leave school, I will travel/am going to travel around the world. 5. What time do you meet/are you meeting Pat tonight? 6. Don't worry! I'm posting/will post the letter for you.

Correct answers:

  • 1. I'm thinking of buying a new mobile.
  • 2. It looks like it is going to rain later.
  • 3. I've been working for hours. I think I'll have a break.
  • 4. When I leave school, I am going to travel around the world.
  • 5. What time are you meeting Pat tonight?
  • 6. Don't worry! I'll post the letter for you.

Short rule: use going to for plans or clear signs, will for quick decisions and promises, and the present continuous for fixed arrangements.
