John Jacobs, the 0 author / novelist of that bestseller, lives opposite us in the village.
1 Journalists / Reports are always standing outside our house trying to get information about him, but we never say anything. He is a private person and I’ve only met him once, when he first came.
He never 2 comes / appears in news programmes on television, even though he gets very good 3 reviews / reports for each of his books.
His first 4 novel / poet was about the village and its residents.
It also had 5 illustrations / portraits which made it very clear which residents he was writing about.
In fact I think it was very 6 inspiring / disappointing that he laughed at all of us. The residents haven’t spoken to him since.
The 7 cover / scene of his latest bestseller is a lovely
8 still life / watercolour of the village centre, which I did a few years ago. I gave it to him as a housewarming gift. I think it would be nice if he gave me something for using the picture
