1) Small talk

A: Hey, do you mind if I change the song?
B: Go for it. What are you in the mood for?
A: Something upbeat. Maybe indie pop?
B: Nice. Put on whatever gets people moving.

Clerk: Can I help you find anything?
Customer: I’m looking for the newest Arctic Monkeys vinyl.
Clerk: We’ve got the limited edition in the back. Want me to grab it?
Customer: Yes, please. Do you also have sleeves?
Clerk: Right by the counter.

A: What kind of music are you into these days?
B: A bit of everything, but I keep coming back to neo-soul.
A: Any artists I should check out?
B: Give Cleo Sol and Jordan Rakei a listen. Warm vocals, tight grooves.

A: I need a playlist for a road trip — three hours tops.
B: Start with some 80s synthwave, then switch to modern funk.
A: Can you send me five must-have tracks?
B: Sure. I’ll pick songs that build energy but don’t get too heavy.

A: My ears are still ringing. That encore was insane.
B: Right? The drummer went off.
A: I didn’t expect the acoustic version in the middle.
B: Same. It gave the crowd a breather before the big finish.

Vocalist: Let’s set the tempo at 92 BPM.
Guitarist: Cool. Do you want a clean tone or a bit of crunch?
Vocalist: Slight crunch for the verses, heavier on the chorus.
Drummer: I’ll keep the groove simple and open the hi-hat on the pre-chorus.

Teacher: Your timing’s good, but watch the dynamics.
Student: Softer on the verse, louder on the chorus?
Teacher: Exactly. And hold that last note two beats longer.
Student: Got it. I’ll mark it on the sheet.

A: The original is better. The remix kills the vibe.
B: Disagree. The remix adds bounce and fixes the muddy bass.
A: But it strips the vocal emotion.
B: Fair. Maybe it works for clubs, not headphones.

A: Which stage are you heading to next?
B: The River Stage. The set times overlap though.
A: Let’s catch the first half here and then run over.
B: Deal. Meet by the food trucks at quarter past?

Producer: I dropped the stems in the folder — drums, bass, keys.
Singer: Sweet. I’ll record harmonies tonight.
Producer: Can you double the chorus lead?
Singer: Yep, and I’ll add some ad-libs in the outro.

Staff: What will you use them for, mixing or casual listening?
Buyer: Mostly commuting, some podcast editing.
Staff: Then closed-back with decent isolation. Try these.
Buyer: Comfortable. How’s the battery life?
Staff: About 40 hours on a charge.

A: How would you describe the new single?
B: Dreamy vocals over a laid-back groove, with a bass line that sneaks up on you.
A: Lyrics felt personal without being cheesy.
B: Exactly — catchy but not disposable.

13) DJ на вечеринке

Guest: Can you take a request?
DJ: Sure, what’s the vibe?
Guest: Something 90s R&B.
DJ: I’ve got you — I’ll blend it in after this track.

Driver: Aux is yours. No sad songs — I’m fighting sleep.
Passenger: Copy that. High-tempo only.
Driver: If you play anything over 150 BPM, I’ll start speeding.
Passenger: Then we’ll hover at 120–130.

Host: What sparked the album?
Artist: Long train rides and voice notes at 3 a.m.
Host: Favorite track to perform live?
Artist: “Midnight Cities.” The crowd sings the bridge for me.

A: Do lyrics matter to you?
B: A lot. If the words don’t land, I lose interest.
A: I’m the opposite — melody first, meaning second.
B: That’s why we argue and discover cool stuff.

A: Is it hard to start the piano as an adult?
B: Not at all. Ten minutes a day on scales and simple chords goes a long way.
A: Any apps you recommend?
B: Start with a metronome and free sheet resources; keep it consistent.

A: The mix was a bit muddy near the back.
B: Yeah, vocals got buried when the guitars kicked in.
A: Front-of-house probably boosted the low end too much.
B: Next time we stand by the sound booth — safest spot.

A: New album drops Friday — midnight local time?
B: Usually midnight Eastern, then it rolls out.
A: Guess I’m staying up.
B: I’m pre-saving to make sure it pops into my library.

Parent: What are you listening to?
Teen: Just a playlist. Nothing you’d like.
Parent: Try me. I survived punk; I can handle this.
Teen: Fine, but no judging during the breakdown.

  • It’s right up my alley. —

  • That track slaps / goes hard. —

  • It grew on me.

  • Underrated / overhyped —

  • Hook / bridge / chorus / verse —

  • BPM / tempo / key / dynamics — bpm /
