London is the capital of the United Kingdom and one of the most interesting cities in the world. It has many famous sights. Trafalgar Square is in the centre of London. There is a tall column with a statue of Admiral Nelson in the middle of the square. People often meet there and enjoy street performances.

The Tower of London stands on the River Thames. It is an old castle with a long history. In the past it was a royal palace, a prison and a fortress. Today visitors can see the Crown Jewels there. Near the Tower there is Tower Bridge, one of the symbols of London.

London is also famous for its traditions. The Changing of the Guard takes place near Buckingham Palace. Guards in red uniforms and black hats march to music. This tradition attracts many tourists.
